Katy is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in a collaborative project between Arizona State University (ASU) and Iowa State University (ISU). She studies the chemistry of trace elements in low-oxygen lake environments, relating this geochemistry to microbiology with implications for the co-evolution of life and early Earth. Beyond her research, Katy is interested in mentorship, teaching, and service, which has led to her involvement in a variety of projects, for example: serving as a scientific consultant on the development of virtual learning modules through ASU’s Center for Education Through eXploration, and being an inaugural member of the ASU School of Earth and Space Exploration Postdoc Council.
