Jodie Kiyokawa is a Ph.D. candidate in astrophysics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison whose research focuses on improving the accuracy of supermassive black hole mass estimates through quasar analysis using Hubble Space Telescope UV imaging and ground-based optical data. A first-generation college student who began at community college, Jodie is passionate about creating inclusive science spaces and building community-centered outreach programs. She currently helps design hands-on astronomy activities for students in affordable housing communities and is dedicated to making science approachable and empowering for people from all backgrounds. Jodie sees science communication as both a skill and a calling, and she hopes to grow into a researcher who leads with curiosity, collaboration, and impact.
