Project Description
In the Flow
In an effort to disseminate important research and impact an increased number of learners, the Infiniscope Science Activation team is partnering with early career researchers (ECRs) to create STEAM learning experiences exploring the effectiveness of Infiniscope’s Tour It compared to other low-cost, more immersive options. The ECR PIs will build a virtual tour, a virtual reality space and an in-person embodied art experience to teach about fluids’ role in regulating and changing environments globally.
In the University of New Hampshire’s 72 meter long Flow Physics Facility (UNH-FPF) the ECRs will use lights, cameras, and smoke to create flow visualizations of greenhouse gas transport in the atmosphere. Through collaboration with Infiniscope and aligning the virtual learning experience with Next Generation Science Standards, lessons on the Tour It or other VR platforms can assist thousands of educators in teaching tens of thousands of learners asynchronously, providing an immersive scientific exploration of an engineering facility to students all over the US by reducing constraints related to time, money, and physical ability.
